School Supply Kit orders are now being accepted for the 2012-13 school year! These kits can save you time and money.  The kits are teacher-approved and custom packed for each student.

Last week’s PTA meeting was bittersweet. It was the last PTA meeting of this school year and we said goodbye to two Executive Board members, Kathy Powers (VP) and Lisa Mezaache (Treasure). Thank you ladies for your 3 years of service as Executive Board members. 

We elected our new Executive Board Members and we are excited about welcoming them to the Board. The new 2012-2013 Executive Board is:

Even thought the school year is coming to an end the PTA is still busy. Each of the committees gave reports, here are the details....

Environmental Literary was excited to report that over 100 people showed up for the Spring Clean up. The Learning Gardens look amazing! Thank you to all that came out. The PTA is currently looking for volunteers to sign up to help maintain the gardens over the summer. A sign up calendar will be coming out.

The Science Fair was a huge success with over 40 entries. 3 entries will go on to county level. Thank you Nicole Howe and Christina Zimmerman for all their hard work. 

Fundraising has been working hard all year. The school supply kit order forms have gone home and fundraising will be looking for volunteers in August to distribute the kits.
Hospitality did a great job making the teachers and staff feel appreciated with all the good food and gifts they provided during teacher appreciation week. Hospitality will be looking for volunteers in June for the “End of Year Luncheon” for the teachers. If you can help, please contact the hospitality committee.
The membership committee has started recruiting for the 2012-2013 PTA year. If you know of anyone who would like to become involved in the PTA, please have them contact membership or come to the June 12th planning meeting at J. King’s at 6:30pm.
A special Thank you to Kathy Powers! Her son Cory is in 5th grade and this is her last child at Waugh Chapel. Kathy has been a driving force in the PTA and an active volunteer at Waugh Chapel. Her absence will be felt throughout the PTA and Waugh Chapel. Thank you Kathy for all you have done for Waugh Chapel.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! The Waugh Chapel Elementary School PTA is once again planning some very special events for our teachers for National Teacher Appreciation Week which is May 7-11, 2012.

Every year we honor our schools hard-working, dedicated teachers and their outstanding support staff with a fun-filled week.  This year will include:

Door Prize Raffles each morning and additionally:

• Monday- Gift Bags to be presented to teachers
• Tuesday-Lunch and 5-minute chair massages by Effective Chiropractic
• Wednesday- PTA sponsored Breakfast
• Thursday- Desserts
• Friday- Door Prizes Finale

We hope you will join our PTA in showing our amazing teachers how much we appreciate them!  We are seeking donations of items for the teacher gift bags and daily raffles. Attached is a teacher “Wish List” that includes items we typically put into the gift bags as well as gift card/certificate ideas for the raffles. Also, if you have a home-based business and would like to donate items, these donations would be much appreciated.

If you would like to donate items, or make a cash donation, you may drop off in the school office, attention PTA “Hospitality.”

The WCES PTA Ice Cream Social and Science Fair are this Friday, April 13!  Come to the cafeteria from 6:30 - 8:00 for ice cream from Friendly's.  2012 Science Fair entries will be on display-- check out the wonderful work of our students! T

This event is free to all students and PTA members, and $3 for non-members.

Whether you can spare an hour or more, WCES needs your help to clean up the school's landscape.  We will be working from 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, April 21 (rain date is Saturday, April 28) and we need you! Please bring your shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes and garden tools. Free WCES water bottles, breakfast, and lunch for volunteers.
